I think I may be a bit of a geeky bean counter. Why? Because I just love working with numbers!
Hi, I’m Rebecca Burgess and I am a Bookkeeper. But not just any bookkeeper, because I can confidently say that I am a little bit special. Let me explain…
I started Do the Sums Bookkeeping & More in 2014 with the aim to help other small business owners with their accounts. In 2011, I started up and ran another small business and became involved with other Work At Home Businesses. I quickly found out that these small businesses were getting a raw deal. Not only were they struggling with understanding how to do their accounts, but even finding the money to pay an accountant or bookkeeper to do their accounts for them was difficult.
So I stepped in and decided that I was going to work to support small business owners in a way which suited them. As a result, I offer:
- Accounting and bookkeeping advice and support
- Setting up accounts systems
- Providing training for accounts systems
- An affordable bookkeeping service for every small business
I certainly don’t believe that one size fits all and will work towards solving all problems, big and small.
My Qualifications and Experience
It all started way back in secondary school when I discovered and began to love the subject of Accounting. After a quick journey into another career direction, I realised that I just couldn’t escape the truth – I was born to work in the number counting industry.
I worked within an accountant’s office in Te Awamutu between 2007 and 2010, but started undertaking bookkeeping work for my family from 2008. With plenty of experience in a large variety of industries, you can be assured that I’ll have all your financial accounts under control before you know it.
I also have a Diploma in Business (accounting), am a member of the New Zealand Bookkeepers Association, a Xero Certified Advisor and an IRD Registered Tax Agent.
